What is the Anglican Trust for Women and Children?

The Anglican Trust for Women and Children (ATWC) has run homes for unmarried mothers and their babies, as well as St Mary’s Hospital.

You can make a claim by completing their online form

Making a claim can bring up a range of emotions. We have some suggestions on help and support you can access for this process.

To make a claim to the ATWC, complete the Anglican Trust of Women and Children online formopen_in_new.

When the ATWC receives your claim, a Historic Complaints Facilitator should contact you within 15 working days.

What happens after I have made a claim?

The Facilitator will organise a meeting with you, to learn about your complaint. You can bring a support person with you to the meeting. If you want, the Facilitator can provide a support person for you.

The Facilitator will request information about you from the ATWC or the Anglican Church to help them investigate your complaint.

When they have finished their investigation, they will provide a report with their recommendations to the ATWC Board of Trustees. They will give you a copy of the report.

The Board will then decide how to respond to your claim. They may offer you:

  • an apology (in person, unless you prefer not to receive it in person) and / or
  • support to aid your ongoing healing.
