Barnardos Aotearoa has a redress process for survivors, that is in place until the Crown’s national redress programme becomes available.
You can claim redress from Barnardos if you were in their care, custody or guardianship while you were a child or young person. This means they:
held an Additional or Sole Guardianship Order
held an Interim Custody Order or Custody Order or
were named as the Agent for Ward of the Court.
If you meet the above requirements, you are eligible for redress from Barnardos even if you have received an MSD Historic Claims settlement.
It is not possible to make a claim to Barnardos on behalf of a deceased survivor.
