The Privacy Commissioner deals with complaints about your rights to access and correct your personal information.
For example, you can make a complaint to the Privacy Commissioner if you are unhappy with MSD Historic Claim's response to your complaint about redacting the wrong information from your copy of records about you.
Learn how to make a complaint with the Privacy Commissioner. The Privacy Commissioner will only investigate complaints if you have already raised your concerns with Historic Claims first.
The Ombudsman deals with complaints about government agencies, including breaches of the Official Information Act.
For example, if you are continuing a claim that a whānau member started with MSD before they died, you can request access to their records under the Official Information Act.
If MSD will not provide access to the records, you can make a complaint to the Ombudsman.
