What records does the Diocese of Auckland hold?

The Diocese of Auckland holds records from the following places:

  • Blackwood House from before 2000
  • Women’s Home from 1869-1904 (also known as the Gables and May Cottage in Parnell)
  • St Mary’s Home in Otahuhu from 1974 – 1972
  • St Mary’s Day Care Centre in Otahuhu from 1975 onwards.

They may also hold records from the following places:

  • Auckland Anglican Family Home
  • Church Army Girls’ Hostel in Avondale
  • Church Army Training College

How do I request records from the Diocese of Auckland?

They will let you know if they need any information or documents (for example, proof of identity) from you. They may also let you know what format you will receive copies of records in.

They need to respond to your request within 20 working days

Under the Privacy Act the Diocesan Archivist needs to respond to your request within 20 working days. If they need more time to complete your request they need to tell you why and how much longer it will take them.

Your records may be redacted
