It depends on the types of documents and what the judicial officer decides

The format court records are provided in depends on:

  • the types of documents in the court records (for example, transcripts from court hearings may be PDF documents)
  • the choice of the judicial officer.

A judicial officer (also a judge or registrar) is a person with the responsibilities and power to make decisions about how laws are applied.

You can request the court records be provided in the way that works for you best (for example, PDFs emailed to you, or printed copies posted to you).

Your request will need to be approved by the judicial officer. If they deny your request they should tell you why.

Paper copies of court records can be sent to people in prison

If you are in prison, and your records requested is approved by a judicial officer, paper copies of court records will be sent to you in prison.
