Requesting your records can can bring up a range of emotions. Learn where you can find support to help you on your journey.

For enrolment records from 2006 (primary schools) or 2007 (secondary schools), email the Ministry of Education

All students enrolled from 2006 onward in primary school, or from 2007 in secondary school, are recorded in the ’ENROL’ online database.

To request details of your enrolment records if you were enrolled from 2006 or 2007, you can email the Ministry of Education at requests.dataandinsights@education.govt.nz.

Or you can use our online records request form. This form lets you request records from one or more organisations at a time.

If you were in primary school before 2006 or secondary school before 2007, contact the school

If you went to school before 2006 (for primary schools) or 2007 (for secondary schools) and the school is still open, you can contact the school and ask to see your enrolment information on their ‘Register of Admission and Withdrawal’. This is also called a ‘Register of Admissions, Progress and Withdrawal’.

A Register of Admissions and Withdrawal should contain:

  • your name and date of birth
  • the date you were enrolled
  • the name and address of a parent or guardian, and
  • the class you attended each year.

Find a list of New Zealand schoolsopen_in_new and their contact details.

However, record-keeping by schools was sometimes inconsistent before ENROL was created, so some of this information may not be available.
